Types of Center Cap
There are many different types of center caps available to cars, all dependent on what type of look you’re seeking out. Which you receive with the purchase of a vehicle or purchase on your own depends on what you are looking for.
Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM): These are manufactured products or components purchased by a company and then retailed using the purchasing company’s brand name. OEM refers to the replacement part made by the original manufacturer of the part. An example of this would be when you buy a new car, you would get the OEM center caps. Typically the quality is much better than aftermarket pieces.
Aftermarket: Aftermarket caps refer to those being made or installed into a car that is made by a company that is not the original manufacturer of the car (unlike OEM). These can be purchased on your own or by seeking out advice from someone who specializes in aftermarket parts.
Custom Center Cap: Custom center caps are caps you can design at your discretion to add to the overall look to your wheels.
Painted: Painted center caps are caps you can design yourself or with the help of someone who specializes in custom work. To do this, coat all the caps evenly and allow them to dry completely and then add an additional layer. To ensure the paint does not chip, peel or crack, make sure to add one layer of clear paint.
Chrome: Chrome center caps refer to the material of the center cap. They are made to match the wheel and other components of the wheel.
